Big blow to Chinese companies, 2020

They will not be involved even if they bid by forming a joint venture with an Indian or another company
New Delhi: Amid ongoing tensions between India and China, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that Chinese companies cannot be involved in India's highway project.  They will not be involved even if they bid by forming a joint venture with an Indian or another company.
 Gadkari also said that the government would ensure that Chinese investors were also barred from investing in various sectors such as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"We will not allow joint ventures with Chinese partners for road construction," Gadkari told PTI.  We have taken a firm stand that even if it (Chinese companies) comes through a joint venture, we will not allow it.

 What will happen to the ongoing project - Some of the projects that were started a long time ago include some Chinese companies.  Gadkari said the decision would apply to the new project.
BSNL cancels tender of Chinese company - Telecom Department has canceled the tender announced for the 4G upgrade of state-owned telecom company BSNL.  The central government has banned the use of Chinese devices for the company's upgradation.  Now a new upgrade has been announced.
